SUBJECT :Solar Energy 

Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Shivraj V Patil today inaugurated a 200 kilowatt-peak (kWp) grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic power plant on 22 huts at the IRB Complex, Sarangpur.


Patil, who was accompanied by UT Adviser Vijay Dev, Home Secretary Anurag Aggarwal, Finance Secretary Sarvjit Singh and IGP RP Upadhyaya, told police officials to cover all rooftops under Phase II.

Santosh Kumar, Director (Science and Technology), Chandigarh, informed that the 200 kWp grid-tied Rooftop SPV Power Plant Project had been implemented by CREST.

UT Adviser Vijay Dev also inaugurated a 60 kWp grid tied rooftop solar photovoltaic power plant at the GMSSS, Sector 16-D.

Total cost of project

  • The total cost of the project is Rs 215 lakh, including operation and maintenance charge for 10 years. The solar plant will be able to generate more than 2.60 lakh units of electricity per annum.
