SUBJECT :Earth day 

Earth Day observed

Earth Day was observed at Ryan International School, Sector 49-B, Chandigarh. The event that was held to mark the day was no less than a carnival. A special assembly was conducted by students of Classes I- V. The students presented a tribute to the earth by reciting a special prayer. The students presented a skit. They also pledged to save the earth. A badge-making activity was also held. 

St Xavier’s School

Students of St Xavier’s School observed Earth Day with great zeal. A special assembly was conducted where the students were encouraged to plant more trees and feed birds. They were advised to save water and use locally produced products. Mervin West, principal of the school, advised the students to honour and respect the nature around us.

AKSIPS-41

Earth Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the pre-primary section of AKSIPS-41. To make tiny tots aware of the environmental degradation, a nature walk was taken out to the Japanese Garden, Sector 31. The children saw different kinds of trees and plants. Teachers explained about the importance of trees and the ways to protect the environment.

Sharda Sarvhitkari Model Senior Secondary School

Sharda Sarvhitkari Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 40-D, was abuzz with activities as it held a programme to mark Earth Day under the guidance of Anjali Kapoor, in-charge of the eco-club. Banners and colorful charts were put up. A special assembly was organised, wherein students expressed their views in Hindi and English. They were told about the importance of trees and recycling. Paper and cloth bags were made. Earthen pots filled with water, rice and millet were placed at different places on the campus for the birds. A havan was also performed. The students and the staff members chanted the Gayatri Mantra. 

Workshop on life skills

A workshop on life skills was conducted for the students of St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School (primary wing) by Manjula. Under a series of workshops conducted by The Transformers Value Creators, children were told to behave well. The children were also told how to communicate on the telephone and taught table manners. Manjula highlighted the importance of magical words through interesting and exciting games. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Senior Secondary School

World Earth Day was celebrated with full enthusiasm on the campus of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Senior Secondary School, Sector 35-B. The school chairman, S. Bhupinder Singh Bhatia, and Manager S Sukhcharan Singh Lamba planted the trees to mark the say. Students also planted trees on this occasion. A lecture was also delivered by school Principal Tarsem Kaur Bains. The stress was laid on the creation of a pollution-free environment. Various competitions like slogan writing and poster making were organised.

GMSSS-26

The eco-club of GMSSS-26 observed earth day. Pargat Singh delivered a lecture to make students aware about the drastic climatic changes. A special assembly marked the event. Teachers and students also planted saplings. As many as 20 students participated in a walkathon at the Sukhna Lake to mark Earth Day. The students gave speeches in Hindi and English.

Government High Smart School

Government High Smart School, Sector-50, Chandigarh, observed Earth Day. The focus of the event was to spread awareness among the students about the environmental safety and the measures that can be taken to save the earth. Various activities were held to support the environment conservation. The students gave speeches, recited poems and enacted plays. In the morning Assembly, the students pledged to go green and protect the 

environment

GMSSS-21

Earth Day was observed at GMSSS-21. The day was marked by a declamation contest and painting competition on the topic “Green Earth”. Dr Surendra Singh, principal of the school, encouraged the students to adopt an eco-friendly way to conserve the earth. A tree plantation drive was also carried out by the NSS wing and the Parrot Eco-club of the school.

Government Sr Sec School, Raipur Khurd

World Earth Day was observed by the Tiger Eco-Club of Government Senior Secondary School, Raipur Khurd. The day marked the importance of saving the earth. Many activities were held to highlight the importance of the day. These included a face-painting Competition, lecture by a teacher and poetry recitation.

St Mary’s School

World Earth Day was observed at St Mary’s School, Sector 46, with great enthusiasm.  The day started with a special morning assembly where the students sang melodious song and highlighted the need to save the planet.  An inter-class painting competition for Classes I-V and a poster-making competition for Classes VI-X  on the topic “Save Earth” were held  to mark the day. All students participated in the competitions enthusiastically.  In an  another event, students of KG classes participated in colous day celebrations.
