Biodiversity Day was observed by Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 40C. Students of Classes IX & X visited the geology museum at the geology department, Punjab University. They experienced a new world of fossils. Students of Classes VI-X also attended a one-day art & craft workshop in the school. They were taught about new trends and techniques. The workshop focused on shoe painting, pebble designing and paper plate fun.
Competition
Students of Government Senior Secondary School, Khuda Lahora, participated in a competition organised by the department of lifelong learning and extension, Punjab University, on the topic “Say No to Drugs”. The objective was to make students aware of the problem of drug addiction.
Anti-Terrorism Day
PML SD Public School, Sector 19C, observed Anti-Terrorism Day to make people aware of its impact. Students of Classes VI-VIII made posters and wrote slogans to bring about awakening against terrorism and violence. In their posters, students highlighted the ill-effects of terrorism and its aftermath.
Martyrdom of Sikh Guru
Century Public School, Naya Gaon, observed the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev. A special assembly was organised in which a talk on the life history of the Guru was held. Students also presented a shabad to mark the occasion.
Summer activities
Panchkula: Shishu Niketan Public School, Sector 5, Mansa Devi Complex, organised week-long summer activities. The toddlers were taught tricks to beat the heat. At first, the school organised a splash pool party. Then, there was a ‘fruit party’, in which children were told about fruits that helped in maintaining energy insummer. The tiny tots were made aware of various precautions to be taken to keep oneself away from diseases.
Prize-distribution function
DC Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 7, held a prize distribution function. A special assembly of pre-primary classes was conducted in the school. Students took part in colouring and healthy tiffin activities. The special assembly was conducted to boost the confidence of winners and encourage others for active participation in such activities in future.
Dance workshop
Mohali: Ashmah International School held an art and dance workshop for parents. Mothers learned vase making and flower making on the occasion. Principal Monica Mann said children were a reflection of their mothers.
Summer cool party
To beat the heat, students enjoyed a summer cool party at Sherwood Convent School, Mohali. The children brought delicious food to the school. Dance and music were an integral part of the party. Principal Kusum Singhal said such activities keep the children lively and arouse their interest in the school.
Volleyball match
ACNP Senior Secondary School, Zirakpur, organised, an inter-house volleyball match under the guidance of PT in-charges Pardeep Kaur and Tanvir Kaur. The Nehru house stood first under the leadership of Ajay. Student of XII arts and Tagore house grabbed the second position. Both the houses were given trophies by Anju Garg and Sarit Aggarwal.
