City not ready for rains
Chandigarh, July 12
Despite tall claims by the Chandigarh administration regarding monsoon preparedness, travellers today had a tough time at the subway dividing Sectors 11 and 15 following heavy rain. Water in low-lying areas made it difficult for vehicles.
Gurnam Singh, a resident, said: “I climbed the road divider on the top of the subway to cross the road because there was no place to walk across safely in the subway.”
Nanhi, a student of Government College, said: “I could not cross over on my scooter when I came for my classes in the morning. In fact, some cars had to turn back.”
